The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ: all of us, not just Catholics. Everyone! “Father, the atheists?” Even the atheists. Everyone!…We must meet one another doing good. “But I don’t believe, Father, I am an atheist!” But do good: we will meet one another there.
Pope Francis, proclaiming that even non-believers will be redeemed by Christ, as long as they “do good” (not all Christians subscribe to this theory). source (via shortformblog)
Yeah,it’s kinda the bedrock of Christian faith, so kinda important stuff, Francis. Good intentions, wrong message. Maybe something about how anyone can do good, and even be good, it just can never make up for the bad we do, so that’s where Christ comes in.
Apparently the Vatican is now back peddling and saying that the Catholic Church is the only way to heaven (this is something I can’t find any articles confirming it though)
Hopefully this is just a rumor, because I personally think Catholicism is a… difficult..way to be a Christian. Seriously, there’s a reason all my atheist friends come from Catholic families. It complicates and can take the joy out of being a follower of God.
